info
Blackfish Knits takes its inspiration from the Pacific Northwest of North America, in particular British Columbia. "Blackfish" is the name given by the Coastal First Nations to the Killer Whale (orcinus orca). Sarah commissioned her first whale carving from a local artist in 1985, and now has a respectable collection of carvings and paintings by First Nations artists.
Locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and Coastal BC provide the names for our patterns.
We design knitwear that uses colour, texture and shape to create interesting pieces that we want to wear - and that we hope you will, too!

SarahCM took up knitting in December 2009 and almost immediately started modifying patterns to suit her own taste and style. In the process of developing her skills, she came to enjoy playing with colour, lace and luxurious yarns. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, two spinning wheels and two cats.
ShelaghAnn - test knitter extraordinaire - learnt to knit as a child and hasn't stopped since. She designs "on the fly" for her own use, exploring stitch patterns and textures. She cohabits peacefully with her husband and miniature schnauzer in the Pacific Northwest.
