This is a crescent-shaped shawl, which sits on the shoulders without fastening, making it the ideal no-fuss accessory. By working additional pattern repeats, the shawl can be enlarged to wrap around the body.
The shawlette is named for a bay in British Columbia: the trees represent the coniferous forests of the mountains above, with deciduous trees at the shoreline, and the modified Old Shale represents the ocean. The sand stitch of the centre panel represents the tidal flats at the far East end of the bay.
Shawl is knit from the top down, with 12 increases over eight rows on each side creating the curve that allows the shawl to drape over the shoulders without bunching at the neck.
